At the 100th year celebration of the Montreal dealer Association, Sylvie Dagenais was asked to produce a painting commemorating it. It was put at an auction to the members of the Association and was so appreciated that it generated a final price of $10,000, which was to be given to the charitable foundation of the Montreal Automobile Dealer Association, La Fondation Bonne Route.
Sylvie Dagenais has now moved her Quebec art studio from Rosemere to a new location in Old Montreal. It is now in Penthouse 3 ( or PH922) at the Heritage du Vieux-Port, a magnificent building situated at 1000 rue de la Commune Est, Montreal. She believes that being closer to the Old Montreal Art scene and to the Art Gallery ( Le Luxart on St-Paul Street) which sells her work is both inspiring and practical.
A monotype is a single print pulled from a glass or metal plate on which ink or paint has been applied. The image can be transferred to paper by hand rubbing or with a press. A monotype remains one of a kind because it contains no repeatable matrix in the image from which a perfect second impression can be made.
